Step one: Browse a list of top selling products in a category
Find hot but less competitive products. The sales of these products are high, but have not yet been found by top seller.
Amazon will disclose the best-selling products of each category as well as the ranking of each best-selling ASIN through the "Best Sellers" list.
Choose a category (such as Toys & Games, Furniture) or its subcategories (Toys & Games> Crafts, or Furniture> Rugs) to find the top-selling 100 products.
Amazon's list of top-selling products is updated per hour. You can scroll down the product page and find their top-selling position in the Product Information section of each product.
Step two: Study each best-selling product
Select from the rank 1 of the list of the top selling products, open each product in New Explorer tab and click on their "Used and new" link to view all sellers for this product.
Note the following details, which show that it is a sales opportunity when one product has these characteristics:
• Amazon is not selling the product on its own.
• fewer sellers. 5 or less is the best, 10 or less can be taken into consideration.
• Amazon FBA sellers are low in number. no FBA the seller is the best, five or less can be taken into consideration.
• The manufacturer is relative small. Try to stay away from those biggest
manufacturers unless you have a relationship with them. For example, products from companies such as Hasbro, Mattel, and Fisher Price may be less well sold in the toys & games category for you.
To keep the product research organized, you can record the ASIN for these products in a sheet (the characteristic of the product must meet three conditions of above tips). Then you can list a short list of products that may be best sellers.
Once you have identified the potential product, the next step is to identify the manufacturer or supplier. To do this, you can search Google for the product's brand (found on Amazon's listing).
If the Google search does not show the brand manufacturers or suppliers, direct search for product names. If it is sold on other websites, look for its manufacturer or brand owner.
Once you have identified the provider, go to its website for contact information. If possible, you can find the supplier's wholesale department, which is usually in the header or footer section of the page.
Step four: Contact with the supplier
Next, send a simple message to the vendor via email informing them your information and your intention, such as:
Hello [supplier name or supplier wholesale rep]. My name is [your name] and I'm interested in selling your products through my ecommerce store. Can you please direct me to the best person to speak with?
The purpose of your e-mail is to show the supplier that you are a potential purchaser of their product.
If possible, talk to someone in the wholesale department of the supplier and discuss the details. You want to send or wholesale? Where are you going to sell? the price and payment terms.
Finally, determine your sales channel through a distribution agreement, which will grant you the right to sell and promote your product on Amazon.
Step five： Start selling products on Amazon
If you find a good supplier, the last step is to sell this potentially profitable product on Amazon.
The product is tested for 60 days. Keep an eye on the ASIN, adjust prices to compete with other sellers, and optimize listings for Amazon Search.
After 60 days, evaluate the product's performance and determine if it is worth keeping in your inventory. If so, continue to stock up and optimize for more sales. If not, remove the stock and focus on another product.
If you are practicing this strategy throughout the year, as new products and manufacturers continue to appear on the top selling list, you will have a great opportunity to find a hot product in every retail season.
